Hope

"The faith and love that spring from the hope that is stored up for you in heaven and that you have already heard about in the word of truth, the gospel." Colossians 1:5 (NIV)

Our hope in Christ and the heavenly future He prepared for us keeps us going. It cheers us up to think of heaven, because all that we desire awaits us. That is a land of rest. Fatigue will be banished. In heaven, we will enjoy the victory. The Captain will say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” There we will be perfectly holy. Nothing will creep in to defile that perfect kingdom.

It is sheer joy to realize that we will not be wandering in this wilderness forever, that we will soon inherit the Promised Land. Through God’s Spirit, the hope of heaven can produce great righteousness within us. The person who has this hope inside has a new vigor for his work—for the joy of the Lord is his strength (Neh. 8:10).

This article is based on the writings of C. Spurgeon

In my journey I have observed that a persons’ true happiness is not based on the possessions that they have accumulated, nor the works that they have done, but on the hope they have in the Lord Jesus Christ.

“And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us” (Romans 5:5 NIV).
