Good Grief
We hope to be proactive in our care for those who need support during this very challenging aspect of life's journey. Below are links to articles our chaplains have written, books we recommend, support groups in your community, and other helpful websites on grief and aftercare support. Please don't hesitate to contact a chaplain if you would like to have someone walk alongside you through your grief journey.
A note to you who are grieving
A part of you has been cut off. You wonder if you'll even survive. You didn't choose this journey. You do get to choose how you will navigate it and who you will ask to walk alongside you. Whenever and wherever you walk the Journey of Grief…you don't have to walk alone.
We are here for you.
Please keep in mind that the grief experience is a very individual thing, so what works well for one might not work at all for another. Also, please keep in mind that although it may help you to hear what helps others, there is no right or wrong way to experience the journey of grief.
A note to those helping someone who is grieving
You care...and it shows. Be careful not to trip over your own grief as you journey with your friend.
"If we are going to help people, then we must learn how to just listen. I often say that people need the three "H's." They need us to Hang Around, Hug Them, and Hush. They need our presence. Nothing takes the place of being there. They need our hugs; nothing feels better than a hug when we hurt. And most of all they need us to hush. That is the hardest one of all." ~ Doug Manning
