What did you do before coming to Simmons?

I was pastoring a church in Southwest Missouri. I worked at Simmons in Southwest City for 16 years before retiring for the first time.

When and why did you become a Chaplain?

I was invited by Chaplain Wil Gardner. Initially, I decided to remain at the church I was pastoring which inevitably allowed Chaplain Nick to join our team (he thanks me regularly for saying "No" the first time around). I finally accepted a position on the chaplain team in August, 2011.

Where did you go to school?

I attended grade school and college (Union University) in Tennessee. I finished graduate school at Southwestern Seminary in Texas.  My next step was Missionary School in Pine Bluff, Georgia and then Spanish Language School, Guadalajara, Mexico.

Where have you lived?

What do you like to do in your free time?

I enjoy working on the farm, fishing, and hunting.

What are some of your favorite quotes?

"Casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ." | 2 Cor. 10:5 (KJV)

"The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once."  Albert Einstein

Do you have any pets or raise any animals?

I have 3 dogs, 2 cats, 2 horses, 28 head of cattle.

Who have been the most influential people in your life?

My mother was the most influential person in my life (didn't have a father in the home).
